You can chill wine and beer super-fast-with this hack.

Picture the scene: the sun is out, you’re picked up your favourite bottle of wine from the supermarket, and your friends are about to turn up for an afternoon of boozing and general good times. Life is good... until you realise you forgot to put that bottle of wine in the fridge. It’s just been sat in your Bag For Life on the kitchen counter all morning…

WHY DO BAD THINGS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE?!?!

Okay, deep breaths, because your get-together isn’t doomed – there’s still hope for you and your warm rosé.

Thanks to this hack we saw on Instagram, your wine will be perfectly chilled in just 15 minutes. And all you need is ice, water and salt. Yup - salt.

The hack, which was shared by @home.with.leanne, is dead-simple. All she does is fill a bowl with water. She then adds ice cubes and a big spoonful of salt. Why? Well, because salt automatically lowers the freezing point of the water. This means the ice will melt at a lower temperature than usual, which results in cooler water for the wine.

This would definitely work with bottles or cans of beer too, if that's more your jam.

There's also another way of chilling wine and beer quickly too, which involves a damp tea towel and your freezer,

All you have to do is wrap the bottle in damp kitchen roll or a damp tea towel and stick it in the freezer. When you take it out in seven minutes, you’ll be left with an ice-cold beverage for you and your guests.

So, your wine is now nice and cool, but you want it to stay that way, right? And you know ice cubes will just water your wine down, and nobody wants that.

Next time you know you’ll be wanting an ice-cold glass of wine, stick a few grapes in the freezer a few hours before. Once they’re frozen, you can pop them in your glass of wine and they’ll keep it cool without diluting your precious, precious booze.

Is it too early for a glass of wine? Never.
