The rising temperature of our time is indeed troublesome; if you do not live in a cold hilly area, the situation will be worse. The unpleasantly hot weather makes it difficult for people to concentrate and work efficiently, given that the human body is most comfortable at 25 degrees Celsius and 50% relative humidity.

Hot weather requires air conditioners or air conditioners. Although air conditioners are the first choice of most of us, air conditioners are a clever invention that is underestimated. Here we will tell you why you should choose air conditioners instead.

The debate over the choice between air conditioners and air coolers has been around for a long time. In short, if you live in a coastal area with high humidity, then you should use air conditioning. Unlike air coolers, air conditioners help regulate and control indoor humidity.

However, if you do not live in coastal areas, let us see why you should choose an air cooler instead of an air conditioner, without further ado.

Air coolers, also called swamps and evaporative coolers, are basic box systems. They are independent and consist only of a fan, a water immersion pad and a pump. Their function is very simple because they only work on air and water-no refrigerant or additional mechanisms/components are required. Their working mechanism is evaporative induced cooling; they can also be used as humidifiers-so they are not suitable for coastal areas.

When you fill the air cooler with water, the mat is completely immersed in the water, thereby cooling as the air passes-the temperature drops several degrees. This is actually an extremely ancient technique that can be traced back to ancient Egypt! !

There are two types of air coolers-desert air coolers and indoor air coolers.

Desert air coolers, as the name suggests, are widely used in arid areas. They are powerful (more powerful than your room air cooler) to provide better cooling. This also allows them to cool a large room, but they require more space, water and electricity. They are usually installed/placed outside windows and suck in air from outside. In these systems, fans act as exhaust devices.

As the name suggests, room air coolers are more suitable for rooms (smaller capacity than desert coolers), and they are also weaker than desert coolers. They are best suited for small rooms and not too high temperatures. They are placed in the room (with problems), on a trolley, so they can be moved easily. Fans in these systems are used to forcibly exhaust air.

They are further divided into three types according to their functions-direct evaporative cooler, indirect evaporative cooler and two-stage evaporative cooler.

These coolers use the latent heat of evaporation to convert water into steam for cooling. They are the most widely used.

These coolers operate on some form of heat exchanger to ensure that the cooled moist air does not come into contact with the external environment.

The two-stage cooler, as the name suggests, has two-stage cooling. First, use a heat exchanger to pre-cool the air. Next, this pre-cooled air passes through the water-soaked mat. The air humidity produced by these coolers is relatively low.

They appear in almost all air cooler models. The most common designs are honeycomb cooling pads; they ensure low pressure drop and maximum cooling while extending service life. The ideal pad thickness for effective cooling is 90 mm.

Electric thermostats provide different fan speeds and automatic pump switches, thereby increasing overall efficiency.

The water level controller maintains the preset water level in the device and prevents excess water from overflowing from the water tank connected to the cooler.

The water level indicator indicates the water level in the water tank. It avoids the need to frequently open the cooler to manually check the water level.

These dampers open when the fan is on and close when the fan is off. In this way, they help to cover coolers that are not in use, thereby minimizing cooling losses.

Many coolers provide variable speeds and cooling modes-such as low cooling, medium cooling, and high cooling. This helps you control the temperature and speed according to your preferences.

The bottom of the mobile air cooler is equipped with casters. They help to move the cooler freely, making it easier to drag through the room.

Newer models now come with a remote control, which is convenient and convenient, and allows you to customize the mode.

Some air coolers are equipped with a timer that allows you to set a sleep time, after which it will turn off. This way, you don’t have to wake up in the middle of the night to turn it off.

Compared with air conditioners, one of the primary advantages of air coolers is their price. It is a better economical alternative, almost a quarter of the price of air conditioners; their starting range is Rs. 5,000 is different from air conditioners that start at Rs. 35,000. While the initial cost is low, they also have low operating costs because they are energy-efficient, resulting in a 40-50% reduction in electricity bills-more economical in the long run. Therefore, if you find that the air conditioner exceeds your budget, you don't have to worry (literally); the air cooler is here to help!

The air cooler uses fresh air from the outside, cools it, and then provides it. Unlike an air conditioner, which circulates the air inside the room over and over again, it does not ventilate and provides old and impure air. Therefore, the air quality provided by air coolers is much better-more suitable for people with asthma or dust allergies.

The air cooler only needs air and water to provide cooling. Unlike air conditioners, they are not suitable for CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) or HFC (hydrofluorocarbon). These devices do not emit any harmful gases or greenhouse gases, so they are very environmentally friendly.

Air coolers do not require any installation, which makes them most suitable for buildings where installation is prohibited or there is not enough space. Not only is the installation process cumbersome, but also requires professionals. With the air cooler, you can forget all the installation; the air cooler can be placed anywhere in the room. What's more, the air cooler is portable and can be moved around easily. Most of them even have casters for easy movement. Although few AC models are portable, they still need to be installed-uninstalled every time you move them from one room to another!

COP26: Use ADMS-Urban and measurement to verify Glasgow's carbon dioxide emissions

Validation of carbon dioxide emissions is critical to achieving net zero and "maintaining 1.5 vitality". Researchers from CERC, the University of Cambridge and ACOEM collaborated on a project to verify the carbon dioxide emissions of Greater Glasgow by combining measurement and CERC's ADMS-Urban Air Pollution Diffusion Model. Ongoing studies using available traffic data and emission factors indicate that the carbon dioxide emissions from road traffic around the area may be underestimated by as much as 20%. These methods can be applied...
