Lettuce and lettuce varieties occupy an important position in the BelOrta range. BelOrta also strives to bring them from the field to the plate, as fresh and high-quality as possible.

Last year, BelOrta sold more than 56 million lettuce and lettuce varieties, which accounted for half of Belgium's supply. "Although we noticed that this product group still has sufficient growth potential," BelOrta said.

In order to allow consumers to obtain the freshest possible varieties of lettuce, we regularly check the commercialization and logistics processes of the product group. In 2020, BelOrta launched two different new sales systems: daily fresh lettuce and additional pre-sales.

"During certain periods of the year, we need specific alternative packaging to export our fresh, high-quality top products. We hope to respond flexibly to this demand by providing daily pre-sale offers. Pre-sale and freshly harvested lettuce Daily sales are provided at the same time. Sustainability "BelOrta attaches great importance to sustainability and is always looking for sustainable alternatives, including packaging. For example, we provide buyers with the opportunity to buy lettuce in paper bags instead of plastic bags," BelOrta explained.

"BelOrta has made a permanent commitment to the freshness and quality of the product, which is why it invests in vacuum cooling. With this method, the leaf crops are cooled quickly and evenly to about 2°C. It not only ensures that the shelf leaves The lifespan of similar crops has been greatly extended, and the quality of the products has been better protected. In this way, we have added extra strength to fight food waste."

"Various varieties of lettuce" BelOrta's lettuce series includes more than 25 varieties, from traditional head lettuce, colorful lettuce, lollo and oak leaf type, iceberg lettuce and Roman lettuce to even colorful Batavia and red lettuce. Add in many scions from the so-called genus Chicory, such as chicory, curly chicory, chicory, sugar bread, and of course chicory and red chicory, and you will get a wide variety of leafy vegetables with many opportunities for change. Most varieties of lettuce are available all year round. BelOrta also offers red and green cabbage lettuce, cabbage, lollo bionda and rossa, and oak leaf lettuce with root ball.
