NORTH HILLS, PA — A restaurant in Ross was holding food at unsafe temperatures and had moldy vegetables in the walk-in cooler, a health inspector found.

The Allegheny County Health Department inspected McKnight Kitchen, at 4860 McKnight Road, on Aug. 10.

The inspector found a number of raw meat, uncooked noodles, and eggs between 49 and 51 degrees Fahrenheit, and shrimp in a 70-degree container of water.

The inspector also found "moldy brocolli and moldy heads of lettuce" in the walk-in refrigerator, "thawed fish still in vacuum package" in the sushi prep unit, and "orange sauce in bucket near prep sink (that) has floating yeast and smells fermented."

The dishwasher was not sanitizing dishes properly, the inspector said.

McKnight Kitchen offers sushi, stir-fries and noodles, curries, pho, and other Asian dishes.

When the consumer alert is removed, the health department will update their website.
