It was previously reported that the upcoming portable Mac has a white frame and a notch similar to the 2021 MacBook Pro model. We believe that because the M2 chipset is expected to achieve high energy efficiency, there is no need for a well-designed heat dissipation solution, allowing Apple to more freely reduce the thickness of the MacBook Air. Upcoming models may also include a MagSafe connector, as shown in these renderings, and a Thunderbolt 4 port on both sides. Unfortunately, we don’t expect these Thunderbolt 4 ports to support eGPU because Apple has omitted this feature on the 2021 MacBook Air models.

Adding a mini-LED screen will increase the attractiveness of the package and make the 2022 MacBook Air the most affordable portable Mac with this display upgrade. Unfortunately, for those waiting for its release, don't expect it to start shipping early next year, because it is reported that this MacBook Air will enter mass production in the third quarter. One reason it may be late is that it takes time to complete the design for mass production, and it needs a large supply of M2 chipsets and mini-LED panels, both of which are difficult to obtain.
