When it comes to desserts, my two favorite items are cookies and cakes. I will eat those pies or cheesecakes any day! A local bakery in eastern Iowa combined cookies, cakes and another delicious ingredient to make one of the best desserts I have ever seen!

Last summer, we told you that we are about to open a new Cookie & Dreams store in Coralville. This bakery is located at 901 East Second Avenue in the Iowa River Landing District and held a grand opening ceremony in July. Except for Davenport and Bettendorf, this position ranks third in Iowa. They also plan to open a store in Ankeny and expand three more in Illinois.

If you have never heard of this company in Iowa before, their website will say that their cookies are "arguably the best in America." Some of the cookie flavors listed on the website include PuppyChow, Cookie Monster, Snickerdoodle Cheesecake, Caramel Pretzel and OG Chocolate Chip. In fact, OG chocolate chips are what they used to make this brilliant work:

On the right is a biscuit cake filled with NUTELLA. Yes, that's right... Nutella. I don't know you, but that photo is enough to drive me to Coralville now. If you need to be more convincing, please watch this video:

Recently, a number of different bakeries specializing in biscuits have appeared in the corridor. In addition to Coralville’s Cookies & Dreams, Iowa City also has Insomnia Cookies and Cedar Rapids’ Crumbl Cookies. Insomnia Cookies has started business, but Crumbl Cookies has not yet. What we now know is that it is located in the same complex as the headquarters of Collins Community Credit Union on Blairs Ferry Road and is scheduled to open sometime this month, but no specific date is listed. We will update you when we learn more!
