After LJ Betts won the 2015 British Grower of the Year Award (and the British Food Grower of the Year-Vegetable Gold Award), Stephen Betts commented on Contronics Dry Misting that he decided to increase production in his new 1,000 m³ cold storage And the excellent quality required to win the award.

One obstacle to the growth of high-humidity storage environments with ultra-fine dry fog was the need for a new and larger cold storage facility, which was overcome with funding from the Rural Development Program in England. This grant enables companies to look forward to further improvements in quality and output. This is achieved through the introduction of glycol refrigeration technology, which allows products to be stored in a high humidity environment of 0.5 – 1°C and full of ultra-fine (1-2 micron droplets) dry mist.

Stephen Betts commented: "Having a dry fog system gives us confidence in the ability to harvest when the product and weather conditions are at its best. It didn't take long for us to discover that using the dry fog method, a'good harvest' is equivalent to a good harvest. '."

Reduce harvesting costs and labor to harvest when the product is ready instead of when the order is required, Contronics Dry Misting calls it a "strategic crop." This brings other advantages, such as the opportunity to avoid expensive weekend, early morning or evening harvests, significantly reduce costs and overcome staff availability issues.

"The ability to harvest each field when the product is in its best condition is a great advantage, instead of harvesting when the field and product are wet, reducing waste and the need to dry the product. At the same time, avoiding extreme hot weather can reduce cooling costs and Recourse to the need for vacuum cooling to further dehydrate."

Less waste, more output, quality and financial returns almost eliminate waste caused by dehydration, enabling Contronics Dry Misting customers to provide consistently high quality and comprehensive better products from a stable inventory instead of leaving in a hurry On-site to meet demand.

The dry mist system allows the harvested products to hydrate naturally, extending the life of young leaves from 1-2 days after harvest (using standard DX cooling) to 4-7 days using DX combined with dry mist. Salad and Brassica have similar results, with lifespan extended from 10 days to 21 days.

Dry fog technology-and the strategic crops it supports-can smooth the peaks and valleys of turbulent and changing seasons, maximize yield, quality, and achieve financial returns.
